Welcome to day 4 of my writing challenge! Today’s post is brought to you by the Letter of the Week. It’s S, for Sunday… night. 😐

Sigh.

Next week I have my formal teaching observation. The day after, progress reports are due.

This explains why yesterday, I did not get to post.

I had no choice! Too much work.

To help jump right back into blogging, tonight’s topic will be fun and light. For you, dear readers, I have created a dopetastic A-Z list of Letter of the Week ideas for preschool students. The twist? Most of the ideas are somewhat unconventional.

Because why be “basic” when you can be “extra”? Right, Sophia, Olivia, Jackson, and Liam? (Note: Don’t hate.) 😂😂😂

S4 Wins The Lottery! (The Pre-K Lottery)

First Day of Pre-k

S4 on the first day of Pre-K.

My family is very fortunate to live in a school district that has a lottery-based Pre-K program. The program employs one full-time, elementary certified master’s degree-level teacher per each of our four elementary schools, paired with a full-time teaching assistant. For each half-day am and pm session, the roster is limited to 18 students.

S4 was selected to participate in the program last June and placed in the PM class at our home school.

And has had a phenomenal first full school year.

Bus ride home

PM Pre-K students even get bussed home! (AM students are bussed in).

Now, being a teacher myself, I know teachers = the WORST class parents. This is especially true when our kids are young. Though personally, I’ll come at S12’s middle school teachers if need be (and have). She’s still my kid, and I’ll always be a Mama Bear.

However, when it comes to S4’s pre-k teacher, my tough-guy shtick disappears. Instead of critical, I am in awe. She is an absolutely incredible educator.

Letter of the Week aka “My First Homework”

Each Monday, a Letter of the Week note comes home asking families to bring an object beginning with a certain letter to school the following day.

Recently, S4 has been upping the creativity quotient of her choices (with some parental guidance.)  Which has made the decision process so much fun!

Below, I present 26 unconventional Letter of the Week ideas for preschoolers. Objects S4 chose this school year are denoted in bold.

Happy searching, Moms, and Dads!
